theCoderSchool Opens Second Las Vegas Location

Silicon Valley-based coding school opening second Nevada location

July 07, 2020 // Franchising.com // Palo Alto, Calif. - theCoderSchool - whose motto is “Learn to code. Change the world.” - is continuing its Las Vegas takeover. The concept - which aims to show the next generation of kids how inspiring and exciting technology can be - is set to open a new school in Henderson this month. Located at 3255 St Rose Pkwy #140, the new school will be owned and operated by Danielle and Noel Mateo and is the couple’s second location.

No strangers to the world of code, the couple has a background in computer science and business, so much so that Danielle was awarded the 2018 National Center for Women in Technology Aspirations in Computing Educator Award. Recently, the two saw a need for a coding concept in the Las Vegas Area, and plan to continue growing theCoderSchool’s presence in the area as the Valley grows in population.

“We are thrilled to open our second CoderSchool in the Las Vegas area,” said Danielle. “Learning how to code is extremely empowering and has the ability to take children to new heights mentally and creatively. Not only is coding a career path, but it opens doors by teaching kids to discover, reason, and create. Through theCoderSchool’s 2-on-1 approach to teaching and project-based, customized curriculum, we look forward to getting kids coding at an early age.”

Danielle works as a teacher for the Clark County school district, where she teaches Computer Science and Web Design to high school students. She has earned two Master’s degrees in both Business and Educational Leadership, and understands the importance of young students learning programming and coding skills early on.

Noel, who earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business, works as a consultant for the Hospitality industry and will serve as the school’s General Manager. The couple, who are both from Hawaii, re-located to Las Vegas in 2002 for their prospective careers. They have been in the area since, and are now excited to give back to the community through their coding schools.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mateo’s were forced to close their physical location in Las Vegas, however the couple was able to transition to offer their programming virtually. The Mateo’s are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff as their Henderson location opens.

“Moving forward with the guidance of the social distancing policies outlined by the State of Nevada, we have reopened our Summerlin School and will open our Henderson school for in-person classes,” said Danielle. “We have always had very small class sizes, but we have added on extra precautions to make sure we are following the State's Covid-19 guidelines. All of our staff wear face masks, we take everyone's temperature before they can start a coding session (staff and students), we have our students wash their hands before they touch any equipment, and students are seated 6 feet apart. Additionally, we thoroughly clean all of the student's equipment between each session and have hand sanitizer in every class area.”

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“As we continue to expand our presence throughout the country, it’s critical to find the right franchise partners who are truly passionate about setting kids up with a positive, life-long relationship with technology and coding,” added Lynn. “This is why we couldn’t be more excited about continuing our relationship with Danielle and Noel. Danielle and Noel care deeply about this mission, and we are confident they will bring our level of commitment to kids and parents in Las Vegas and show the community just how fun learning to code can be.”
